Admission Policy

One of the main purposes of the policy is to propagate quality education and maintain cordial relationships with all stakeholders, encompassing both new and returning learners. It applies to a wide range of educational stages, from primary school to secondary education, including senior high schoolers. The policy refers to both old and new learners. The policy is that of an Independent School.

The school has the prerogative of refusing admission or re-admission to any learner and is not obliged to furnish reasons there for.

Admissions for All Grades

Conditions for Admission

All Admissions will be based on an Entrance Assessment and Interview Process. Admissions are also dependent on Learners and Parents subscribing to and adhering to all the school’s Policies and Procedures of the school. Parents/Guardians agree to withdraw their child/ward from the school if there is any contravention by the learner or the Parent/Guardian.

Admissions for Grades 1-3

Minimum Age for Admission to Grades 1-3

To be admitted to one of our Grade 1 classes, a learner must turn six years old during the year they are in Grade 1.

Learners from Grades 1-3 will be admitted based on the results of an entrance assessment and interviews.

Admissions for Grades 4-6

Learners in Grades 4-6 will be admitted or readmitted if they satisfy the following requirements, including passing an entrance exam in the case of new admission. It is at the sole discretion of the school to admit or readmit a learner who does not meet the promotion requirements. Learners in Grades 4-6 will be promoted to the next grade if they have offered and completed the School – Based Assessment, Practical Assessment Task (where applicable), Oral Assessment, and End-of-Year Examination requirements in no fewer than six (6) subjects, as outlined in the policy document, National Protocol for Assessment Grade R-12, and the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement for the various subjects in which they are enrolled.

(a) Achieved 50% in three subjects, one of which is the language of instruction (English Home Language), and at least 40% in three other subjects.

Admissions for Grades 7-9

Learners in Grades 7-9 will only be considered for admission or readmission if they satisfy the following requirements and pass an entrance exam in the case of new admission. It is at the sole discretion of the school to admit or readmit a learner who does not satisfy the promotion requirements.

Learners in Grades 7-9 will be promoted to the next grade if they have offered and completed the School-Based Assessment, Practical Assessment Task (where applicable), Oral Assessment, and End-of-Year Examination requirements in no fewer than 9 subjects, as outlined in the policy document, National Protocol for Assessment Grade R-12, and the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement for the various subjects in which they are enrolled.

(b) Achieved 50% in three subjects, one of which is the language of instruction (English Home Language), and 40% in six other subjects

Admission for 10-12

Learners in Grades 10-12 will only be considered for admission or readmission if they satisfy the following requirements and pass an entrance exam in the case of new admission. It is at the sole discretion of the school to admit or readmit a learner who does not satisfy the promotion requirements.

Learners in Grades 10-12 will be promoted to the next grade if they have offered and completed the School-Based Assessment, Practical Assessment Task (where applicable), Oral Assessment and End-of-Year Examination requirements in no fewer than 7 subjects as outlined in the policy document, National Protocol for Assessment Grade R-12 and the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement for the various subjects in which they are enrolled.

(c) Achieved 50% in three subjects, one of which is the language of instruction (English Home Language), and 40% in four other subjects

1. Payment of School Fees

The school can exercise the right to refuse re-admission to the school if the parent/guardian:

a) Is a slow payer or bad payer. (Slow/bad payer will be categorised at the school’s sole discretion).

b) If the parent has defaulted in the timeous payment of fees on more than two occasions.

2. Conduct of Learner

The school may not re-admit a learner if the school is of the opinion that the learner has not conducted himself/herself in an acceptable manner during the course of the year. There is no obligation on the part of the school to furnish reasons.

3. Code of Conduct of Parent/Guardian

Learners whose parents or guardians display disrespect in any form or contravene the Parents' Code of Conduct will not be readmitted to the school.
